Welcome to the Unilorin Molecular Diagnostic and Research Laboratory (MDRL) Our laboratory serves as a hub for academic inquiry, diagnostic services, and groundbreaking research in molecular biology, genetics, and infectious diseases. We are dedicated to equipping scientists, clinicians, and students with the tools and knowledge needed to confront today's most pressing research and diagnostic challenges. History The MDRL was envisioned by TETFund in the year 2021 with the whole purpose of making molecular diagnosis of COVID-19 available to Nigerians through an initial grant. The MDRL had since transited into a training and research centre, serving as a hub for academic inquiry, diagnostic services, and groundbreaking research in molecular biology, genetics, and infectious diseases. Philosophy The MDRL is committed to the University's mission of teaching, learning, research and community development services. It is aimed at providing excellent Public Health Laboratory (PHL) Mission To provide accessible, high-quality molecular diagnostics and drive innovative research that strengthens public health and enhances diagnostics and clinical outcomes in Nigeria and beyond.
